What is it?
Tea rinsing, in its simplest form, is the brewing of a large cup of your tea of choice… Green, Bamboo or a powerful Ayurvedic blend of herbs, to be used as a beautifying tonic to rinse over your strands.

Why do it?
Herbal teas are chock-full of healthy anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals that have a powerful effect on your hair and scalp in the same way they do for your body. Incorporating this step into a healthy hair regime can greatly benefit your hair’s health.

Tea choices?
Caffeine credits:
Black tea and Green tea both contain caffeine that assists in blocking the hormone DHT that is responsible for hair shedding. Green tea is also a stimulant for hair growth!

Bamboo brilliance
Bamboo tea is amazing as it contains an abundance of the hair loving ingredient Silica that strengthens your hair and nails.

Amazing Ayurveda
Ayurvedic herbal teas mixes are the secret to lustrous hair growth in the Asian culture. Herbs like Amla, Maka and Brahmi, promise to strengthen the hair roots, encourage thicker growth and dark dense roots.

Hair-how-to?
Tea-rinsing can sometimes make the hair dry, to eliminate this, follow these 3 steps to Tea-rinse perfection…

1. Pre-oil your hair

Use the Root Energizer to massage your scalp with the night before, this potent Ayurvedic scalp oil, nourishes a dry scalp and stimulates the follicles to assist with hair growth. Cover the rest of your hair with Olive oil and apply a plastic cap, in the morning rinse your hair with your shampoo or conditioner.

2. Brew it!

In a small jug add your tea or herbal mix and fill with hot water (mix no more than 2 teaspoons of the Ayurvedic herbs to make your rinse.) Steep the tea for 5-10 minutes, let it cool, then strain.

3. Tea-rinse & Condition

Pour the tea over your hair slowly and avoid manipulation for 5 minutes. (This step applies to Ayurvedic tea rinsing in particular)

Lastly rinse and follow up with a Deep conditioner of your choosing.

Try to Tea-rinse at least 1 x a month for to see real benefits and be consistent!

If you try Black tea rinsing and do not like it, try something else, maybe Ayurvedic, maybe nettle there is a tea blend out there just for your hair, so don’t give up and give it a try!
