Simple Guide to a Wash Day Routine for Natural Hair

Simple Guide to a Wash Day Routine for Natural Hair

As we end the first week of September, weekends are usually a good opportunity for downtime.  Therefore, it can be a good time to wash your hair. Here is a simple wash routine guide! https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/436849232603978746/

1. Shampoo - Wet your hair and shampoo with our Stimulate and Cleanse shampoo. This sulfate-free shampoo will cleanse all the product build in your hair without stripping too much of the natural oils in your hair. Make sure you are fully massaging the product into your hair and scalp to ensure that both are effectively cleansed.

Deep Conditioner

2. Condition - After shampooing, use a conditioner, like our Comb-out Cowash or if you're treating your hair, our Deep Conditioner. To deep condition, place a plastic shower cap over your hair for at least 30mins- some people leave it in for a day or have a heating cap over the plastic shower cap. This allows your hair strands to soak in the nutrients from the products faster. Once you have left it in long enough, wash it out with warm water. If you are simply conditioning your hair, you can leave it in for 5 mins or so.

3. Leave-In Conditioner - This is a vital step of the routine as it imparts and maintains moisture in your hair after washing.  Our Honey Rain Juice is just right for this job. Distribute it thoroughly across your hair and detangle it, either with your fingers or if you want to use a tool- a wide-tooth comb should suffice.

Microfibre Towel

4. Dry your hair - Ensure to detangle your hair before it completely dries through twisting or braiding it in sections. This will make it easier to manage and style the next day. Too much heat on hair can cause heat damage. We would, therefore, advise air-drying your hair or using a microfibre towel, or even a Tshirt, to dry your hair. This material minimizes tugging on hair strands and doesn't cause as much friction against your hair. However, on the odd occasion where you may use heat, ensure to use a heat protectant spray!
