Cooler seasons lean more towards protective styles. But it's important to care for your natural hair underneath too. Here are some tips on caring for your protective hairstyles and your natural hair underneath.
Also, we apologise that our stock is low! Please bear with us as we top up on products.
We also have our Back To School event coming up soon. We will keep you updated with some news on this soon!
1. Wigs - Moisturise your wig regularly. Human hair wigs, specifically, need more moisturising than synthetic hair, especially if it's a kinkier texture. Treat it like your own hair! It’s not just a hat that you throw on- it must be cared for. You can use our Honey-Rain juice for moisturising your wig. Maybe invest in a polystyrene head to keep it in a safe place too.
2. Braids –You can also use our Honey Rain Juice to spray and moisturise your braids. Use a natural oil too to help prevent dandruff throughout the duration of wearing the hairstyle.
3. Wash -It's still important to cleanse your hair whilst in a protective style to keep your scalp fresh and room to breathe, and help prevent product build-up. We would recommend you cowash your hair at least once a week whilst in a protective hairstyle. You should also wash your wig and braids for the duration of the time you wear them. If you have braids in, you can get a spray bottle that contains shampoo and spray it on your scalp and roots of the braids and gently moving it throughout the braids. You can wash the soap out gently with a showerhead.
4. Protect your hair at night- Whether you take off your wig when sleeping, or you have braids installed, remember to always wrap your hair in a silk or satin headscarf/bonnet. Alternatively, you can get a pillowcase with the same material. This is because cotton sucks out the moisture of your hair, whereas satin or silk helps keep the moisture in your hair.
