Postpartum can be a stressful season. You are trying to balance sleepless nights, a fussy baby and the rest of your household and taking care of yourself may be far down on your list. But your body needs all the nutrients it can get.
Try adding as many nutrient dense foods to your diet. Smoothies are a great way to integrate fruits and vegetables.
2. Do not over manipulate your hair
Your hair is fragile and the more you manipulate it, the more hair you will see falling out. We recommend you try and manipulate your hair only when necessary. Try not to put unnecessary tension on your hair, especially on your edges.
3. Continue taking your prenatal vitamins
You might have heard this one before but it can actually help your body get those nutrients it needs to boost new hair growth. Taking your prenatal vitamins after you have had your baby can be beneficial for you and your hair.
Those prenatal vitamins are packed with essential vitamins like Vitamin B6 and 12 which your body needs to grow your hair follicles.
4. Avoid tight hairstyles
Avoiding tight hairstyles is a great way to limit excessive hair shedding. Try and wear lose hairstyles that do not cause stress on the scalp.
Twist outs and braid outs are a great way of letting your hair lose. Avoid tight buns and cornrows for example. For night time, make sure you are either sleeping on a satin pillow case or wear a satin bonnet.

Unlike popular belief, washing your hair less does not help with postpartum hair loss. We do recommend simplifying your routine so that you do not manipulate your hair too much. Try going for a simple cleanse, moisturise and style routine.
Also adding protein to your regiment can also help your hair strands to be stronger and not so prone to breakage. Simplifying your routine can also be less time consuming and help you with finding a balanced schedule in between changing diapers.
6. Reduce stress
A great way to help your body is by reducing stress. Try meditating or relaxation techniques to take the edge off. Friends and family might be able to step in and help with taking care of your little one so that you can take some time for yourself.
7. Be patient: How To Handle Postpartum Hair Loss
This might be one of the harder ones but being patient will pay off in the end. Postpartum hair shedding can be very frustrating and nerve-wracking but it will not last forever, we promise.
