How to Avoid an Itchy Scalp

How to Avoid an Itchy Scalp

I hope you've had a good start to the week! Today we bring you tips of how to avoid an itchy scalp if you wear protective hairstyles with synthetic hair.
Marley Twists

Marley twists is a hairstyle that gives a great naturlista vibe. However, unfortunately, the material of the twists can feel itchy against the scalp. Especially when they’re freshly applied.

But, don’t worry. We have you covered! Here are some tips to help a prevent dry, flaky scalp.

Apple Cider Vinegar
1. Apple Cider Vinegar - Before installing synthetic hair to your hair, you can soak the extensions in apple cider vinegar. This can help to remove the protective sprays pre-applied to give the hair extensions a sheen. This spray can sometimes irritate sensitive scalps which can cause itchiness.

2. Natural oil- Applying our natural grow-it-long scalp serum to your scalp helps to nourish your scalp when in protective styles. It helps prevent dandruff. The nozzle is an easy guide for you to apply it in between braids.
3. Wash Your Scalp – Whether your hair is in a protective hairstyle or out of it, you must make sure to wash it regularly. I am constantly surprised at how many ladies think protective hairstyles are a no-go for washing. When in a protective hairstyle, you should not wash your hair any later than 6 weeks.  This helps keep your scalp fresh and able to breathe with limited product-build up. If you didn’t wash your face for more than 6 weeks, can you imagine the build-up of grime or bacteria settling on your skin? It’s unthinkable! So, you should apply this same practicality to washing your scalp. After all, it is an extension of your face. This will eliminate an itchy scalp and help aid with hair growth. Also, washing your protective hairstyle can be a gentle process with you simply massaging shampoo in-between braids. It doesn’t have to be as harsh as you may imagine.
I hope these tips help you avoid a dry scalp.
